Focus on Learning Goals
Focus on Learning – Focus on Learning is an ongoing school improvement process that assists a school in an in-depth look at what currently exists and what needs to be improved in relation to student learning and the school’s program.
Through the Focus on Learning process a school fulfills the requirements for accreditation and forms the basis for the school’s action plan through the use of a single set of research-based criteria.
Focused Learning Groups - Sierra School formed four Focus Learning Groups that analyzed student results to decide what is most important to change in order to substantively improve student learning. The work of each Focus Group was organized around all or portions of the four categories of criteria with emphasis upon the identified critical learn needs and related school-wide learner outcomes. Each focus group must answer the question: What are the implications of each critical learner need and the related school-wide learner outcome for this Focus Group? Each Focus Group uses the analysis of the criteria to determine what needs to be done to promote student achievement.
Sierra School’s Focus Learning Goals are:
1. Upon graduation from Sierra a student will be ‘An academically competent learner.’
