Welcome to English and History at Sierra School!
My name is Anne Cuevas and this is my fourth year here at Sierra School and my 17th teaching English and History. I'm really looking forward to the engaging and challenging curriculum I have planned for your students this year!
In High School English, we will be exploring some of the greatest, classic American fiction novels as well as Biographies and Memoirs such as Of Mice and Men, 1984, and A Farewell to Manzanar. Students will also be engaged in a variety of genres in writing that will engage both their academic and creative abilities.
This year, our High School students will be studying Geography; A subject I absolutely love to teach! Students will not only study the topical, economic and geographical features of different countries, but also connect these different cultures to the current events surrounding these countries and how they engage with the world. Students will also explore the impact of global warming on the earth and research ways to improve the environment.
We have an amazing group in Junior High this year and I'm very excited to get started on all the English Units we have prepared! Students will engage in literature groups, creative writing workshops and even perform a class play!
This year, Junior High is studying Medieval History, a subject they are already extremely excited about! Students will have the opportunity to "choose their own adventures" by developing and presenting subjects of their choice after every unit. The sky is the limit!
I am happy to answer any questions about curriculum or any other questions you may have. Please feel free to email me with at firstname.lastname@example.org. Here's to a great year!
