classes appropriate to their age/grade level. Shadow visitors have the opportunity to experience Sierra School from a student’s perspective. Visitor’s attend classes and lunch with a Sierra student, experience the rich classroom environment, and meet Sierra’s teachers. They also interact with many Sierra students and discover the uniqueness of the school.
In order to participate in the shadow program parents will need to first schedule a school tour and complete the Sierra application. Parents will also need to submit their child’s most recent report card, along with a teacher recommendation letter from their current school.
While visiting, the classroom teacher will give an informal assessment of the student’s reading and math ability, to determine if Sierra’s unique program will be successful for the child.
At the end of the visit a brief meeting will be held between the parent and Principal to discuss the day and review the work completed by the child.
